In its sixth year, the Exemplary Student Research Program is an opportunity for students SELC students to do high-level research at Argonne National Laboratory. In May 2024, the team presented their research at the Center for Nanoscale Materials Poster Session. Their research, “Atomic Scale Study of Boron-based Carbon Capture and Removal Materials,” focused on ways to capture and remove carbon dioxide from our atmosphere. The study allowed GBS students to use a scanning tunneling microscope, a device that allows scientists to see individual atoms.
