On November 19th, this year’s ESRP team traveled to Argonne National Laboratory to work with an Argonne scientist on a project that involved analyzing microbe DNA data from the oceans of the world as they explore the presence of plastic-degrading microbes. Such a computational biology project requires supercomputing capabilities as extremely large data sets are being analyzed. Here is the group in front of Aurora, the world’s fastest AI supercomputer!
